Connect, Communicate, Give.

About Us

About us

A 2010 research report by The University of Western Australia called "A Rising Tide?" showed that Western Australia's level of giving is among the lowest in the country and led to the creation of Giving West.

The vision behind Giving West is the facilitation of an active and involved culture of giving that makes a difference for the people of Western Australia. Giving West will collaborate, share ideas, resources, data, information and connections to enhance and complement the work already happening in the philanthropic landscape in Western Australia.

Giving West is a community resource which supports, encourages, and promotes more effective giving in Western Australia. Rather than being here to raise funds, our purpose is to raise awareness of charitable purposes. By working with other not-for-profit and community organisations, we seek an increase in the level and effectiveness of giving in Western Australia. The people responsible for the formation of Giving West are a group of like-minded business and community leaders that includes the Chair, John Poynton AM CitWA.

In these exciting and prosperous times for Western Australia, our express purpose is to support, encourage, and promote more effective giving. "Giving" means far more than money. Other than “treasure”, it also requires the donation of time and talent. We need more time, treasure and talent from individuals, businesses, and philanthropists to build an active and involved culture of giving and to increase the level and effectiveness of giving in Western Australia.
